PRACCIS (Promoting Reasoning and Conceptual Change In Science) is a research and development project directed over the past 15 years by Ravit Golan Duncan and Clark Chinn. Our focus is developing innovative learning environments for model-based inquiry, understanding how students learn through inquiry, and identifying ways to redesign learning environment in light of our research. Through this work, we have developed and tested NGSS-aligned curricula in the life sciences that you can find in our Classroom Resources pages.
Our research has focused on creating effective scaffolds to support epistemic growth, developing new theoretical lenses to understand inquiry-based learning, and enhancing science practices in the classroom.
